What a long-duration box changes
You know what is inside
Every box lists its recipes and their quantities, in plain terms. You plan your rotation before leaving instead of discovering what is in the carton the night before.
Four recipes in rotation
The long boxes spread four savoury dishes rather than repeating a single one. On an expedition, food fatigue makes you skip meals, and skipped meals cost you days.
The weight is worked out before you leave
Each meal weighs 140 g dry. Multiply by the number of days and you have your food weight, to within a hundred grams. No surprises on the scales the night before departure.
The method behind the meals
Freeze-drying freezes the dish, then draws the ice out under vacuum. It is fast and effective, but costly in both energy and equipment, which pushes producers towards standardised ingredients, dried separately and assembled afterwards.
We do the opposite. The dish is cooked through, simmering time included, then dried slowly at low temperature. On rehydration you get a cooked dish back, not an assembly of powders. On a long expedition, that is exactly what makes you finish your meal on the twentieth evening.

What adventurers say about them
Forty days planned on the Haute Route Pyrénéenne, and food logistics was what worried me most. One order and almost everything was settled.
Taking the option with breakfasts changes everything. In the morning I only have to heat water once for the oatmeal and the coffee, and I am on the trail within twenty minutes.
Over thirty days the rotation of recipes holds up: I still loved the meals on day 30, which is rare for this kind of meal.
Three weeks self-sufficient on the snow, where every gram and every minute outside the sleeping bag counts. The box covers morning and evening without me having to build my own rationing plan, which saved me a whole weekend of preparation.
The oatmeal in the morning / hot dish in the evening combination is perfectly calibrated: 550 kcal in the morning and 750 kcal in the evening, plus my lunch and daytime snacks, and I barely lost any weight on the trip.
Counting the portions in advance also lets you know exactly how much gas to carry.
On this kind of terrain you do not resupply: what you carry is what you eat. Receiving 21 dinners at once, calibrated and labelled, let me pack my haul bags in a single evening.
The variety is enough to keep you going, and the fact that it is cooked and then dried is clearly noticeable compared with the industrial freeze-dried meals I used before.
Two weeks of hiking, one box, not a single question to ask. I alternated between Pad Kaprao, Arrabiata, Tikka and Ragù, and I never had that moment of food fatigue where you can no longer get your meal down.
The total weight in the pack is very reasonable for what it represents in calories. The only real calculation is the space in your luggage on the way out.
Two of the four of us at home are vegetarian, and until now that meant preparing two meals at camp.
The Veggie Box solved that: the Tikka Masala Veggie and the Pasta al Ragù Veggie have enough character for the carnivores in the family to eat them without complaining. The portions are identical to the classic recipes, so nobody ends up half full.

No. The four boxes on this page contain meat recipes only. The Tikka Masala Veggie and Pasta al Ragù Veggie versions are available individually, and as a box of 10 portions of a single recipe in the catalogue.
Each box comes in two formats: savoury meals only, or savoury meals with the same number of oatmeals. You make that choice below the duration selector. Count 504 kcal for 135 g per oatmeal, ready in 5 minutes.
Count 140 g dry per savoury meal: around 1.1 kg for eight days, 2 kg for fourteen, 2.9 kg for twenty-one, 4.2 kg for thirty. Add 135 g per oatmeal if you take the full format. Packaging is included; water you find on site.
No, the split of each box is fixed: that is what guarantees the rotation between the four recipes without you having to think about it. If you want a single recipe in quantity, take the corresponding box of 10 portions in the catalogue.
The best-before date is printed on each meal. Store them dry, at room temperature and away from light. Check that date if your departure is still a long way off.
Pour hot water straight into the pack up to the mark, close it, wait 14 minutes for a savoury dish, 5 minutes for an oatmeal. You eat out of it: no washing up, nothing more to carry.
Belgium and the Netherlands: €5.50. France: €6.50. Free delivery from €49 of order value, a threshold that every box on this page exceeds.
Pushing your limits, right down to your plate
If you have ever eaten out in the wild, you know the feeling: why is outdoor food never a match for the scenery? Bland, not filling enough, packed with additives... Like you, we looked for better. And because we could not find it, we made it.
Lowpact was born in 2024 from that shared realisation: bringing flavourful, generous, 100% natural cooking into your backpack.
Today that means 4,000 meals a month, cooked with care from organic, seasonal ingredients, to keep you going on every adventure.
